Another interesting night to look at the sky is coming. Be sure to appoint 13th December on your agenda, on that night (between 13th and 14th December) the Geminids meteor shower is at its maximum! Moreover the moon is almost new (that means "black") and, at least here in Italy, it will set pretty early in the night, about 2220 local time.

Interesting enough the Geminids are a particular phenomena as they're not generated by a comet like most meteor showers but they come from an asteroid. You can read more on the science@NASA website (they have a great newsletter you can join) or on the omni-present Wikipedia.

The next 3rd March it'll be a unique day: a total lunar eclipse will be visible from all seven continents.

In Italy the event is perfectly noticeable and we should stare at the moon at 0020 local time 4th March (2320 GMT, 3rd March) the moment of greatest eclipse. The phenomenon will start 3rd March, 2118 local time and will end 4th March at 0323.

The last Thursday I took the free guided tour at the exhibition with my girlfriend.

It was pretty nice but definitely not what I was expecting. The heart of the exibition are six rooms where animated slides and a small movie are played. There are just a few photos outside these rooms, maybe twenty or so.

Even if I was expecting more printed photographs overall it was not so bad, probably because of the tour guide that pointed out many interesting things. If you're planning to go there I suggest to pick a day with the free guided tour, it will definitely improve you eperience.

Considering that the entrance fee is really low (3 euros for students) the exhibition is worth a visit as well as the Magnum website which is full of nice pics.

Six young photographers of Magnum - Christopher Anderson . Antoine D&39;Agata . Thomas Dworzak . Alex Majoli . Paolo Pellegrin . Ilkka Uimonen - will show approximately 300 photos and 6 large video projections, with a musical accompaniment by the musician Fabio Barovero.

We will have this date the next month, but America is going to celebrate this once a thousand year event in a few minutes. And no one will ever know about that. From Wired News.
